Job Summary

Plans, organizes, and executes production schedules in order to maximize customer satisfaction, achieve “on-time” shipments, and meet department goals and objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Ensures consistent application of good fundamental production control concepts and practices to support the facility’s total manufacturing process
2. Develops and maintains master schedules and order releases for assigned product lines in order to support customer requirements (including the response to changes in customer requirements)
3. Monitors status of purchase parts and communicates any changes to purchasing department
4. Provides shipping dates for short lead orders based on material availability and production capacity
5. Reviews, implements, and monitors ECRs in order to minimize obsolescence and maintain inventory accuracy
6. Provides information for and/or prepares departmental, production, and management reports
7. Determines and maintains required Kanban card levels within the production system to meet production schedules and inventory targets
8. Coordinates and participates in cycle counts and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy, monitors accuracy of inventory records, and initiates required corrective actions
9. Ensures that the required levels of returnable packaging, internal containers, and racks are available for manufacturing
10. Participates in and/or leads departmental projects and activities, including physical inventory activities, Kanban/JIT training, and Kaizen team activities
11. Provides technical and functional direction to departmental staff in the absence of the manager
12. Performs other duties as assigned

Responsibilites

Requirements

1. High school diploma or GED (APICS certification preferred)
2. 5 years of experience in a Production Control/Planning role with increased roles and responsibilities (Experience in a JIT and Kanban manufacturing environment is preferred)
3. Strong skills and abilities in the following areas:
a. Working knowledge of the use and purpose of Bill of Materials and routings
b. Computer skills in standard business software — including MS Office and MRP software applications (Access and Crystal Reports skills are preferred)
c. Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution skills
d. Organization and Planning skills
e. Written and verbal communication skills
f. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
