Job Summary

Maintains and repairs the machinery within the department in order to reduce downtime and ensure the smooth flow of materials through the department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Supports manufacturing through the maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery, and electronic controls, and the improvement of the assembly processes
2. Implements and maintains standards and standard processes for technicians
3. Monitors preventative maintenance schedules and equipment repair logs
4. Creates and maintains log of equipment downtime
5. Monitors product quality and performance of equipment
6. Orders repair parts, equipment, supplies, etc., and establishes a spare parts inventory system
7. Assists shift supervisor in department "6's", leads Kaizen improvement activities, promotes continuous improvement, and develops improvement plans
8. Assists engineering and management in the development of standard processes for new products, and the support of new product launches
9. Provides support for technical issues within the department, and responds to call-ins, as required
10. Fills in for assigned technicians, as required
11. Stays abreast of new methods of maintenance and repair of machinery, and programming of automated equipment
12. Assures all safety rules are followed in department
13. Provides training and indirect supervision for assigned technicians
14. Performs other duties as assigned


15. Associate Degree in Industrial Technology or related field plus two years as an “A” Technician, or 5 years as an “A” Technician (previous Team Leader or Supervisory experience preferred).
16. Active participation and timely completion of required training relating to hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, robotics, PLC’s and other technical facets of the assembly department.
17. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Communication and leadership skills
b. Technical and problem solving skills
c. Ability to program robotic/automated equipment
d. Interpersonal skills — to work and function in a team environment
e. Ability to assist the supervisor in the evaluation of the technical performance of the technicians in the department
