Job Summary

Conducts manufacturing-related training activities within assigned manufacturing facility; develops new training programs, methods, and materials; and updates current programs to reflect the most recent process changes and/or developments. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Trains manufacturing facility employees on company’s production processes and related topics.
2.    Conducts “train-the-trainer” sessions for supervisors, managers, and other trainers, as needed.
3.    Conducts Yatai training as needed; Maintains and updates Dojo material for training.
4.    Analyzes performance improvement needs through individual interviews, focus groups and surveys, as well as by working with the management teams at their assigned facility.
5.    Creates training programs for identified gaps in employee skills, knowledge, and behavior.
6.    Develops instructional materials for training programs, including measures of competency.
7.    Modifies content and materials for existing training programs, including participant manuals, job aids, and instructor guides.
8.    Ensures that the materials presented in training programs reflect the most recent process updates.
9.    Monitors effectiveness and  usability  of  instructional  media  elements  developed,  reports  areas  of weakness in media or media development processes, and recommends areas for improvement.
10.    Facilitates new hire orientation at local facility training center, coordinates the schedules of presenters, and fills in for presenters on an as-needed basis.
11.    Maintains a thorough understanding of, and keeps current with the latest industry technology, tools, trends, and processes.
12.    Certify new Material Handlers to work on the shop floor.
13.    Performs other duties as assigned.

 

The salary range for this position is $46,500 - $66,600 per year. Final compensation will be determined by location, skills, experience, qualifications, and the career level at which the position is filled.

Requirements

1.    Meets one of the following education and experience requirements:
a.    HS Diploma or GED, plus 5 years of related manufacturing and/or training experience; OR
b.    Associate's Degree in a Manufacturing, Organizational Development, or a related discipline plus 3 to 5 years of related manufacturing and/or training experience; OR
c.    Bachelor's Degree in a Manufacturing, Organizational Development, or related discipline plus 0 to 2 years of related manufacturing and/or training experience
Prior experience as a Material Handler is required
2.    Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a.    Knowledge and understanding of the following:
i.    TWI training methodology
i.    Adult learning theory is preferred
ii.    Teaching and instruction for individuals and groups is preferred
b.    Organizational and planning skills
c.    Computer software skills — ability to proficiently use standard business software packages with an emphasis on MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access
d.    Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
e.    Interpersonal skills — ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and to maintain composure in stressful and/or sensitive situations
