Supply Chain Specialist - I

Job Summary

Deals directly with suppliers to ensure the prompt and accurate delivery of parts and associated paperwork to appropriate NAL locations according to required delivery schedules.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Checks with suppliers on delivery dates in order to reduce potential for past due deliveries
2. Maintains information about supplier delivery performance as necessary
3. Identifies delivery problems and works with suppliers and internal resources to resolve
4. Releases orders, prints out requisitions, and distributes to buyers
5. Transmits orders electronically on a daily basis
6. Adds and removes parts from Kanban
7. Addresses supplier issues related to over/under receipts and labelling concerns
8. Coordinates and supports efforts related to supplier requests to use alternate packaging (if required)
9. Facilitates efforts with support from the commodity buyer to improve accuracy of packing slips from their assigned suppliers
10. Supports activities associated with providing necessary Proof of Delivery (POD) paperwork to assist in receiving and payment reconciliation problems.
11. Opens and closes orders, as needed, to maintain inventory levels
12. Produces and distributes past due order report daily/reschedules weekly.
13. Communicates with suppliers on a variety of issues (such as: EDI problems, testing, etc.)
14. Assists Accounting with invoice problems
15. Runs sheets on a daily basis (open purchase orders)
16. Provides information to MIQ personnel regarding all expedites (other than supplier past due)
17. Addresses emergency issues via telephone during off-hours, as needed
18. Performs all other duties, as assigned



1. Meets one of the following Education and Experience requirements:
a. High School Diploma or GED, plus 1 to 3 years of experience in an office/administrative or related position, including 1 year of experience in a JIT environment ; OR
b. Associate’s Degree in a business or manufacturing related discipline, plus 0 to 2 years of experience in an office/administrative or related position
c. Experience in supplier scheduling, logistics, and production control is preferred

2. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Office and administrative skills
b. Organizational and planning skills
c. Computer skills — proficiency using standard business software (including MS Office)
d. Written and verbal communications skills
e. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and to maintain professional demeanor in sensitive, stressful, and/or confrontational situations
