Supplier Tooling Engineering - Supervisor

Job Summary

The STE Supervisor will oversee and/or facilitate the techniques of Supplier Tooling and Problem Solving methods for various supplier processes. The objective of this position is to prevent supplier quality issues, correct existing supplier quality issues, improve the current supplier processes, and to ensure the supply chain is capable prior to new launches at NAL.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Supervise /Oversee/Facilitate Supplier Tooling Engineer activities.
2. Ensure the implementation, assess effectiveness, and maintain a Supplier Quality Process at supply chain facilities.
3. Coordinate the transfer of technical information related to the establishment of specifications for new products and product improvements at suppliers.
4. Collect data from the STE group, prepare and distribute reports in accordance with guidelines.
5. Routinely conduct departmental & supplier audits and seeks improvements to ensure conformance with department policies, procedures, and quality specifications.
6. Develop and implement appropriate objectives for the assigned STE group that support each fiscal year’s department objectives and the overall company business plan.
7. Provide coaching and support in an effort to acquire necessary skills to develop, coach, and motivate the STE group in order to facilitate the growth of successful suppliers.
8. Serve as the focal point for internal and external communications with the supply base.
9. Provide related and/or affected departments with the appropriate data and associated communication to ensure efficient use of all resources for the improvement of the supply base.
10. Hire, supervise, set objectives, review performance, and provide leadership to all direct reports. (Ensure that the duties, responsibilities, authorities, and objectives of all staff are clearly communicated)
11. Performs other duties as assigned



1. Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
2. 6 to 8 years of related manufacturing experience (10+ years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering or Customer Relations within automotive supplier manufacturing, and experience in a JIT manufacturing environment are preferred)
3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Knowledge of Statistical Process Controltechniques
b. Analytical and problem solving skills
c. Technical and Business writing skills
d. Organizational and planning skills
e. Business software packages, including MS Office
f. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
g. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
