Job Summary

Develops assigned suppliers in the areas of Quality, Delivery, Service, and Total Cost.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Performs Supplier Quality Systems Surveys and supplier process reviews.
2. Leads component part design review meetings.
3. Works with the NAL Buyer to gather information and make decisions relevant to product sourcing.
4. Reviews and approves ISIR submissions.
5. Assists Purchasing in coordinating all Localization activities.
6. Supports NAL Design with VA/VE ideas for purchased components & materials.
7. Provides technical support for purchasing and production personnel.
8. Contacts suppliers and provides feedback on quality issues.
9. Performs technical and statistical investigations and analysis on supplier-related quality issues using standard NAL problem solving method.
10. Coordinates resolution of supplier-related quality issues and implementation of countermeasures with other NAL departments and suppliers.
11. Prepares and audits procedures and records for inspection and testing of purchased products.
12. Makes recommendations to NAL design department regarding possible improvements to component parts that would reduce total cost, increase productivity, and improve process capability.
13. Develops fail-safes and improvements to manufacturing conditions, processes, equipment, jigs, and production line flow.
14. Works with NAL manufacturing engineers on labor saving methods for increased automation.
15. Analyzes NAL's processes to reduce defects (process review).
16. Performs other duties as assigned.



1. Meets one of the following education and experience requirements: a. 2 to 4 years of related manufacturing experience b. Bachelor’s Degree plus 3 – 5 years of experience (5 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering or Customer Relations within automotive supplier manufacturing, and experience in a JIT manufacturing environment are preferred) 2. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: a. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control techniques b. Analytical and problem solving skills c. Technical and Business writing skills d. Organizational and planning skills e. Business software packages, including MS Office f. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills g. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
