Supplier Quality Engineer - I

Job Summary

Develops assigned suppliers in the areas of Quality, Delivery, Service, and Total Cost.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Performs Supplier Quality Systems Surveys and supplier process reviews
2. Leads component part design review meetings
3. Works with NAL Buyers to gather information and make decisions regarding product sourcing
4. Reviews and approves ISIR submissions
5. Assists Purchasing in coordinating all Localization activities
6. Performs Supplier process reviews
7. Supports NAL Design with VA/VE ideas for purchased components & materials
8. Provides technical support for purchasing and production personnel
9. Contacts suppliers and provides feedback on quality issues.
10. Develops effective countermeasures for all supplier related quality issues
11. Performs technical and statistical investigations and analysis on supplier-related quality issues using standard NAL problem solving method
12. Prepares and audits procedures and records for inspection and testing of purchased products.
13. Makes recommendations to NAL design department regarding possible improvements to component parts that would reduce total cost, increase productivity, and improve process capability
14. Develops fail-safes and improvements to manufacturing conditions, processes, equipment, jigs, and production line flow
15. Works with NAL manufacturing engineers on labor saving methods for increased automation
16. Analyzes NAL's processes to reduce defects (process review)
17. Performs other duties as assigned

Responsibilites

Requirements

1. Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
2. Up to 2 years of related manufacturing experience (2 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering or Customer Relations within automotive supplier manufacturing, and experience in a JIT manufacturing environment are preferred)
3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Technical knowledge in statistics and/or QC tools inspection methods
b. Understanding of CAD, GD&T, and APQP
c. Analytical and problem solving skills
d. Organizational and planning skills
e. Computer skills in standard business software (including MS Office programs)
f. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
g. Interpersonal skills — confident interaction with individuals at all levels of authority
