Job Summary
Supervises and coordinates the activities and personnel of the shipping, receiving, and warehouse departments within the plant.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Leads and oversees the shipping, receiving, storage, and movement of all finished product and purchased materials in accordance to company policies and procedures
2. Supervises the departmental personnel in their daily activities, schedules their workload, and ensures their compliance with departmental and company policies and procedures
3. Oversees and ensures the timely shipment of all finished product or other materials, and the accurate completion of all required documentation
4. Oversees and ensures the timely processing of all components and materials received within the plant, and the accurate completion of all required documentation
5. Oversees and ensures the timely transfer of materials between facilities or departments in accordance with any inventory control procedures
6. Oversees the completion of day to day operations, plans future operations, and develops new processes as needed
7. Requisitions any tools, equipment or supplies as needed for the function of this department
8. Monitors departmental safety on a continual basis, and holds monthly employee safety meetings
9. Leads and directs continuous improvement projects, and supports departmental initiatives
10. Assists in the training and development of departmental personnel
11. Performs other duties as assigned
Responsibilites
Requirements
1. High School diploma or equivalent
(Associate’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline is preferred)
2. Meets one of the following experience requirements:
a. 4 to 6 years of warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment — to include 2 or more years in a supervisory or team lead role; OR
b. 4 to 6 years of Shipping/Receiving Clerk experience
3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing concepts (such as: JIT production system, TPM, Kaizen, Kanban, etc)
b. Problem solving and analysis skills
c. Organizational and planning skills
d. Leadership and communications skills
e. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and to maintain composure in stressful, confrontational, and/or sensitive situations
