Job Summary

Develops, installs, and operates quality systems for controlling incoming material, in-process parts, and finished products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Prepares advanced quality planning documents and participates in quality planning activities; including FMEA’s, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Charts, and Gage R&R and capability studies
  2. Creates necessary documentation for customer initial sample submissions; including AQP, customer documents, and any other required documentation
  3. Travels to customers’ facilities to participate in all phases of the customer’s launch activities; including Component Review Team meetings, assembly trials, and SOP activities
  4. Performs technical and statistical investigations and analysis on production, quality, process, and equipment issues using standard NAL problem solving method
  5. Coordinates the resolution of quality issues and implementation of countermeasures with other NAL departments and suppliers
  6. Evaluates process capability using the seven statistical tools
  7. Conducts trial fit and function builds at customers’ facilities
  8. Conducts testing and dimensional layouts using mechanical and electrical inspection gages
  9. Analyzes specifications for mechanical, functional, and/or environmental testing and explains them to laboratory personnel
  10. Assists with training of other quality personnel in job methods and technical studies
  11. Serves as the primary liaison between NAL and customers on all quality related issues
  12. Performs other duties as assigned



1. Meets one of the following education and experience requirements:
a. Engineering Degree plus 2 – 4 years of related manufacturing experience or
b. Bachelor’s Degree plus 3 – 5 years of related manufacturing experience
2. Experience in the quality function within automotive supplier manufacturing working with Japanese and US automakers in launch activities is preferred

3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Technical knowledge in statistics and/or QC tools inspection methods
b. Understanding of CAD, GD&T, and APQP
c. Analytical and problem solving skills
d. Organizational and planning skills
e. Computer skills in standard business software (including MS Office programs)
f. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
g. Interpersonal skills — ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and maintain composure in sensitive, stressful, and pressure situations
