Job Summary

Leads, plans, and directs the purchasing function, including all related personnel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Plans and manages all aspects of purchasing the company's materials, goods, and services
2. Identifies, negotiates, and leads global sourcing activities for strategic commodities
3. Develops and implements policies and strategies for the selection of vendors and for dual sourcing
4. Establishes targets for quality, cost, and delivery, and implements
5. Implements Lean Manufacturing/Toyota Production System and Continuous Improvement activities at current and new suppliers, and ensures all suppliers meet TS16949-based quality requirements
6. Manages purchasing staff to ensure 100% on time delivery
7. Develops and directs continuous improvement activities to reduce costs and improve quality of purchased materials, goods, and services
8. Attends corporate meetings, and reports progress relative to cost reductions and improvements
9. Ensures adherence to departmental, capital, freight, and cost savings budgets
10. Leads and coordinates activities to achieve minority content requirements per customer
11. Oversees and mentors purchasing staff
12. Performs other duties as assigned

Responsibilites

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Engineering (Master’s Degree is preferred)
2. 15 years of manufacturing experience ― to include:
a. 5 to 8 years of purchasing and/or supply chain management experience
b. 8 to 10 years of experience in a management position
c. Experience in Lean Manufacturing, TS-16949, and structured problem solving (8D/5 Phase)
d. Successful experience in global sourcing ― specifically in the far-east regions
e. Global Purchasing experience relative to the identification and selection of sources worldwide for automotive components is preferred
3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Knowledge and understanding of market trends
b. Leadership and mentoring skills combined with high energy/enthusiasm
c. Organizational, planning, and delegation skills
