Purchasing Cost Analyst - Manager

Job Summary

Oversee overall direction of analysis on all cost planning related to purchasing, including variance analysis between budget and actual costs, and prepares accurate and timely financial reports and forecasts to NAL Management and Shareholders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Serves as a key management and leadership representative for the Corporate Purchasing Cost Analyst organization.
2. Leads, plans, and directs the work for the Purchasing Cost Analysts group.
3. Develops department processes and procedures, and conducts training for department personnel.
4. Foster departmental changes that drive continuous improvement.
5. Prepares and presents information in an understandable and appropriate format for Executive Management review which includes, but is not limited to budget-planning, expenditures, PPV, Sourcing, Approved Suppliers, and Packaging.
6. Analyze large volumes of complex data and translate it into understandable financial scenarios.
7. Tracks, analyzes, and reports on financial performance, comparing actual and forecasted results against the business plan for material, purchased component, capital, tooling, and MRO at the detail level on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
8. Ensures appropriate and realistic assumptions are used for financial statement generation and ultimate decisioning.
9. Reports PPV to management to track current and future PPV on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis (or as requested for BOD presentations).
10. Deliver analysis that maximizes profitability and increased enterprise value.
11. Perform market data analysis for negotiations and supplier selection, analyze reports to suggest improvements to category strategies.
12. Support Purchasing Management develop and execute category strategy to drive maximum value by developing deep expertise across all spend categories.
13. Performs sensitivity (“What-if”) analysis for initiatives, helping team to identify risks, opportunities, and breakeven points.
14. Proactively identifies risks or opportunities that may impact future financial performance, which includes monitoring key market trends and events and predicting potential impact to current plan.
15. Conducts special projects analysis as requested by Purchasing Management.
16. Responsible for the financial model development and strategic analysis of new product launches relative to purchased components.
17. Responsible for the development of cost analysis models and providing analytical and strategic financial support to the Purchasing Team throughout all stages of the new product development life cycle.
18. Work collaboratively with the Purchasing Team to provide relevant financial analysis for strategic decision making.
19. Develops and monitors buyers’ performance related to new program sourcing milestones, supplier performance related to current production.
20. Provides support on other projects, such as PO tracking, quality, and cost reporting against specific project/POmilestones.
21. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Responsibilites

Requirements

1. Experience to include:
a. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline
b. Minimum 7 years of financial cost analysis or related experience with procurement spend data management
c. Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or lead role
d. Automotive manufacturer and/or supplier experience is preferred
2. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Computer skills – High proficiency using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access; experience preferred in PLEX
b. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving skills
c. Knowledge and understanding of global market trends
d. Excellent Mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail
e. Results-oriented, customer-focused
f. Team leadership and mentoring skills
g. Organizational, planning, multi-tasking, and follow-up
