Job Summary

Plans, designs, and implements production processes, ensures new product designs can be manufactured, and maintains the coatings processes in production.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Provides day-to-day technical support for the coatings manufacturing process in the plant
  2. Supports new launch development activities for coatings departments
  3. Addresses internal and external customer complaints, conducts investigations, develops root cause analysis, determines countermeasures, and documents — using NAL problem solving methods
  4. Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement activities targeted to facilitate improvements in quality, productivity, and safety; and reductions in scrap and machine downtime
  5. Develops processes, equipment specifications, and fixtures for all forms of coating and metalizing that comply with environmental and safety standards, meet customer quality expectations, and achieve competitive cost structures for the company
  6. Supports Manufacturing in the purchase, installation, and start-up of new equipment, as required
  7. Documents the process on set-up sheet, and maintains project book with the proper documents
  8. Develops and updates/improves check sheets for all production equipment for preventative maintenance and machine condition
  9. Establishes and continually improves SOS procedures for processes, and provides training on the processes to molding personnel, as needed
  10. Stays abreast of and communicates any developments in state of the art coating processes that may aid in increasing productivity and quality, and reducing scrap and machine downtime
  11. Performs other duties as assigned



1. Meets one of the following education and experience requirements:
a. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline plus 0 - 2 years of related manufacturing experience. OR;
b. Associate’s Degree plus 2 – 4 years of related manufacturing experience
(experience in multi-color molding and robotics for an automotive manufacturer is preferred)
c. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
i. Analytical and problem solving skills
ii. Organizational and planning skills
iii. Computer skills in standard business software (including MS Office programs)
iv. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
v. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority.
