Job Summary

Plans, directs, and manages all Production Control functions and personnel in the plant, ensuring the efficient and timely flow of materials and parts between or within departments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Supervises, establishes, and coordinates the production schedules within the plant, including purchased material and manufactured parts, based on customer requirements and forecast
2. Maintains required Kanban card level within production system to meet production schedule
3. Acts to eliminate delays and ensures adherence to production and shipping requirements
4. Participates in daily plant production meetings and monthly corporate production planning meetings
5. Works closely with the Purchasing Department to ensure proper flow of purchased material
6. Maintains and monitors inventory levels, turns, and accuracy
7. Coordinates physical inventory activities
8. Ensures effective support of production, shipping, customer service, and engineering, as needed
9. Reviews Engineering Change Requests (ECR) for Production Control issues
10. Ensures completion of Process Change Notices (PCN) upon implementation of ECRs
11. Procures needed levels of returnable packaging, internal containers, and racks to support production requirements
12. Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement activities and kaizen teams, as required.
13. Establishes and/or improves Plant Production Control Department work instructions and processes
14. Evaluate departmental training needs, conducts and/or arranges for appropriate training in order to develop and increase the technical skills of the department personnel
15. Performs other duties as assigned

Responsibilites

Requirements

16. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing, or a related discipline
(APICS Certification is preferred)
17. 8 to 10 years of experience in production control ― including:
a. 3 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role
b. Experience working in a JIT manufacturing environment utilizing Kanban
c. Continuous improvement or Kaizen experience
18. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Organizational and planning skills
b. Analytical and problem solving skills
c. Leadership and coaching skills
d. Computer skills — proficiency using MS Office and MRPH Software
e. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
f. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and maintain composure in pressure situations
