Job Summary

 Provides engineering support to the assembly adhesive application processes to include: the analysis, development, planning, and execution of improvements. Validates adhesive to substrate combinations.  Supports development and validation of new adhesive materials. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Analyzes product and/or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced using existing assembly equipment and processes

2. Serves as technical liaison for customers and suppliers regarding adhesive processes

3. Educates and advises launch teams of assembly process capability for product designs

4. Assists in the development, design, testing, and installation of adhesive application systems and processes  

5. Provides technical assistance to Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, and Manufacturing to help resolve quality concerns, increase productivity, and improve safety

6. Provides training regarding new assembly processes and equipment

7. Provides assistance with development of Preventive Maintenance plans for specific assembly related equipment

8. Assists in identifying and evaluating new technologies to meet adhesive needs

9. Assists Design and Development groups in selecting processes for introduction into new programs

10. Identifies Value Engineering/Value Analysis ideas to be implemented into new product processes

11. Performs other duties as assigned 



  1. BS in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  2. 2 to 4 years of experience in a related position of a new product manufacturer (engineering experience in automotive supplier manufacturingt is preferred)
  3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of standards, such as Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and/or American Standard Technical Methods (ASTM)
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Technical writing skills
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Business software packages, including MS Office
  • Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
