Job Summary

Responsible for the effective use of logistics management and freight utilization techniques in order to maximize use of transportation resources for NAL. These responsibilities include management and control of the shipment and delivery of all materials, suppliers, tooling and equipment from the company’s supply base. Acts as a primary point of contact and interface to NAL’s 3PL provider and related logistics services companies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Investigates and develops a comprehensive understanding and conducts periodic reviews of the movement of NAL in-bound components and materials to verify current truck utilization rates and make recommendations where necessary to adjust or modify the various freight lanes to increase efficiency.
2. Review and track NAL milk run trucks (MRT) and implement initiatives aimed at reducing the frequency.
3. Review long term MRT utilization for new launches including:
a. Aiding buyers for best sourcing and maintaining optimal truck utilization.
b. Quoting new or modified truck routes with 3PL.
4. Record blow-outs (excess freight) and determine opportunities to reduce incidents and frequency.
a. Determine root cause for blowouts and charge appropriately. (NAL, NAL Supplier, Pre-production, etc.)
b. Create monthly report for all instances by plant to be reviewed in monthly Ops meeting with NAL executives.
5. Review MRT forecast utilization to determine if blowouts will occur on a daily basis.
a. Reviews the supplier that is showing excess freight
b. Coordinate with plant PC on a plan to level their planning
c. If plan cannot be achieved to reduce excess freight, then coordinate with 3PL to have freight shipped to the plant by extra truck and charge accordingly.
6. Aid in updating new launch parts to be added to packaging database that us used to verify truck utilization. This includes supporting Corp and plant PC in implementing and maintaining information in Plex.
7. Track and send monthly reports to top suppliers with SDC issues. Assist in long term countermeasures with suppliers and buyer.
8. Performs all other duties, as assigned.



1. Meets one of the following Education and Experience requirements:
a. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing, or related field, plus 0 to 2 years of related experience; OR
b. Associate’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing, or related discipline, plus 2 to 4 years of relatedexperience
2. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Ability to operate standard office equipment
b. Math, analysis, and problem solving skills
c. Organizational and planning skills
d. Computer skills—proficiency using standard business software (including MS Office)
e. Written and verbal communications skills
f. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and maintain composure in pressure situations
