Job Summary

Is capable of being trained to develop, design, and learn to be responsible for all aspects of functional gaging used within the NAL plants. This includes final assembly and component gaging, as well as the setup of programs in WinSPC. Conducts gage concept reviews with NAL plant QE, QE Mgr., ME, PM, etc. and outside gage vendors. Capable of learning to coordinates gage certification / approval and complete gage capability studies (1x10 and 3x3x10). Must be able to learn to train NAL plant personnel on gaging techniques and how to measure and record data.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Designs, tracks and certifies all functional gages used within the NAL manufacturing plants.
  2. Lead person to assure all functional gaging is designed, ordered, tracked and implemented according to program schedules.
  3. Facilitates discussions with quality engineers and customers on gage correlation studies as required.
  4. Confirms functional gage designs are consistent to NAL standards.
  5. Performs gage R&R studies on new gages received within NAL.
  6. Serves as the secondary liaison between NAL and customers on all gaging related issues.
  7. Ensure NAL gage set up in gage tracker for yearly calibrations.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilites

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  2. 1 to 2 years of related manufacturing experience
  3. Experience in the quality function within automotive supplier manufacturing working with Japanese and US automakers in launch activities is preferred
  4.  Ability to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
  • Detailed knowledge of GD&T methodologies.
  • Understanding of CAD and APQP.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Computer skills in standard business software (including MS Office programs)
  • Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Interpersonal skills — ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and maintain composure in sensitive, stressful, and pressure situations
  • CMM programming and understanding of measurement systems would be preferred, but not required.
