Job Summary

Designs, develops, and sets-up equipment required to support production, and provides technical support to engineering and manufacturing in order to establish and maintain production processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Studies product design feasibility and provides feedback to project launch team
2. Assists in establishing process designs for new lamp manufacturing processes
3. Reviews and approves concept drawings for new equipment
4. Develops specifications for new equipment required for new product manufacturing
5. Establishes recommendations for capital equipment budget requirements
6. Establishes detailed timing to design, build, run-off, and deliver new equipment
7. Communicates quantity and timing for requirements needed to build equipment
8. Tracks and communicates equipment development and progress
9. Determines initial equipment capability through trials and evaluations at the vendor prior to delivery
10. Sets-up and fine-tunes new equipment on the manufacturing floor
11. Provides support to establish process capability during new equipment start-up
12. Provides technical support for continuous improvement of production equipment and processes
13. Evaluates vendor capabilities and provides recommendations for vendor selection and approval
14. Approves equipment vendor payments based on equipment performance vs. quoted expectations
15. Ensures all new equipment development meets all company process and quality standards
16. Performs other duties as assigned

Responsibilites

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline
2. 2 to 4 years of related manufacturing experience (Experience in automotive parts manufacturing is preferred)

3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical aptitude
b. Analytical and problem solving skills
c. Organizational and planning skills
d. Computer skills — proficiency using standard business software (including MS Office)
(Knowledge or experience with CAD is preferred)
e. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
f. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and maintain professional demeanor in stressful or sensitive situations
