Job Summary

Performs dimensional analysis of lighting products in accordance with established procedures, measures outcomes, evaluates data, performs failure analysis, and provides routine troubleshooting support and
maintenance for all dimensional devices and equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Performs dimensional analysis of components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies to blueprints and/or sketches, and produces the NAL and Customer Initial Sample Report (ISR)
2. Performs dimensional verification and certification of gauges and fixtures to their blueprints to assure dimensional accuracy and proper documentation
3. Maintains the verification/certification record system
4. Performs and maintains calibration on all dimensional equipment to assure conformity and compliance to NIST Standards
5. Performs Gauge R&R studies (both short and long form) on new and/or existing fixtures and gauges to ensure that any errors due to fixtures or gauges are kept at or below individual customer requirements
6. Performs dimensional analysis of components, sub-assemblies, and/or assemblies, and provides information to appropriate departments to assist in troubleshooting and correcting deficiencies
7. Performs 30/50/100 piece product capability studies to determine potential of the process or parts, and provides data to local and corporate quality
8. Attends customer trials to ensure “gauge to part” fit correlates to “car to part” fit
9. Reviews and evaluates the results of testing and studies to ensure completeness and accuracy
10. Works in conjunction with QC and Production personnel in achieving the overall team objective
11. Performs all other duties as assigned



1. Meets one of the following Education and Experience requirements:
a. High School Diploma or GED, plus 2 to 4 years of experience in a related position; OR
b. Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline, plus 0 to 2 years of experience in a related position
2. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Dimensional test equipment skills — ability to be proficient and accurate in using the following dimensional test equipment:

i.Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
vi.Pin Gauges
ii.Optical Comparator
vii.Digital Indicator
viii.Height Gauges
ix.Levelness Gauges
v.Depth Gauges
x.Component/sub-assembly/assembly gauging

3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Knowledge and understanding of Statistical Process Control is preferred
b. Ability to read and interpret blueprints
c. Ability to interpret and follow specifications
d. Technical and mechanical skills
e. Analysis and problem solving skills
f. Computer skills — ability to proficiently use standard business software (including MS Office)
g. CMM programming and CAD design skills are preferred
h. Written and verbal communications skills
i. Interpersonal skills — ability to work in a team environment, and confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
