Job Summary

Purchases production materials, components, equipment, tooling, MRO items, and services utilizing new and/or existing suppliers in support of the company’s operations, and manages quality, cost, and on-time delivery of
goods and services of assigned supply base.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Negotiates supply contracts that meet or exceed supply, material quality, and commercial goals and objectives as set by the company
2. Prepares and issues RFQ’s to suppliers for new and existing materials and services
3. Drafts sourcing recommendations for award summarizing the bid history and justifying the selection of awarded bidder
4. Studies market trends, interviews vendors, and recommends new sources of supply
5. Works with Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) for source selection
6. Assists in problem solving and establishing continuous improvement targets with supply base
7. Gathers and prepares information for ECM presentations
8. Supports new program launch activities, and participates in design process reviews
9. Learns and keeps current on manufacturing processes, market trends, and technical development
10. Identifies and works with suppliers and internal resources to resolve delivery problems
11. Releases requisitions, prints out orders, and transmits orders electronically to suppliers
12. Opens and closes orders as needed to maintain inventory levels
13. Continuously monitor the status of open orders via the past due order report daily to ensure product is rescheduled for on time delivery.
14. Communicates with suppliers on EDI problems, testing, etc.
15. Helps resolve invoice problems with Accounting Department
16. Runs Open Purchase Order Reports
17. Provides information to freight provider regarding all expedites (other than supplier past due)
18. Supports monthly, quarterly and annual departmental goals and objectives
19. Acts on own initiative, takes responsivity for results
20. Uses a methodical and systematic approach; plans ahead, defines clear priorities and allocates resources effectively
21. Quickly understands and analyzes complex issues and problem; comes up with sound rational judgements

Responsibilites

Requirements

26. Meets one of the following education and experience guidelines:
a. Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related discipline, plus 0 to 2 years of professional experience in purchasing or related function; OR

a. Associate’s Degree in Business or a related discipline, plus 2 to 4 years of professional experience in purchasing
a. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
i. Knowledge of TS-16949 requirements
ii. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
iii. Problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
iv. MS Office and related business software packages
v. Organizational and planning skills
vi. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
