Business Systems Analyst - I

Job Summary

Reviews, analyzes, evaluates, manages, and maintains assigned business systems, develops value-added technical solutions to address NAL business and information needs, and provides end- user application and technical support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Works with key users and software vendors to support business requirements
2. Develops and maintains reports within the business intelligence system
3. Documents all processes and system environments for assigned business systems
4. Plans, coordinates, and performs software and hardware implementation, installation, and upgrades
5. Recommends processes and procedures, and coordinates user requests for custom development, system authorization, and data access with IT management
6. Ensures current test environment is maintained for supported applications
7. Coordinates the accurate testing and application of upgrades and all other maintenance activities
8. Provides end-user support for business applications
9. Prioritizes service desk incidents, independently identifies, and applies solutions
10. Logs and documents problems and their resolutions to insure proper countermeasures
11. Works with Corporate Training to address end-user training issues, develops training materials and processes, and/or conducts end-user training
12. Participates in and supports team projects, security initiatives, and on-call rotation for technical support
13. Stays current with and maintains a high level of knowledge of assigned business systems
14. Performs other duties as assigned



1. Meets one of the following education and experience requirements:
a. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, plus 0 to 2 years of related work experience; OR
b. Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, plus 2 to 4 years of related work experience; OR
c. High School Diploma or GED, plus 4 to 6 years of related work experience
2. Experience supporting financial, manufacturing, and/or automotive release systems applications, and developing end user reports for business applications

3. Experience with the following is preferred:
a. Document Control Systems and/or Technical Writing
b. One or more application development languages
c. Structured Query Language
d. Relational Database Management Systems
e. ERP and/or MES applications
4. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Working knowledge and understanding of the IBM iSeries
b. Knowledge and understanding of the principles of networking and TCP/IP
c. Analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
d. Organizational, planning, and project management skills
e. Computer skills — proficiency using stand business software, MS Office, and MS Project
f. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
g. Interpersonal skills — the ability to work in a team environment, confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority, and maintain composure in pressure situations
