Job Summary

Applies the concepts, standards, and practices of Industrial Engineering to the Warehouse to optimize space, movement, and material handling based on data and information to save money.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Analyze, synthesize, and take actionable insights from various types of raw data sources (sales, inventory, warehouse, transaction logs, etc.).
2. Create a fulfillment center design, including various types of pallet racks, shelving, conveyors, automation, different forklift types, vertical lift modules (VLM)/carousels, etc.
3. Develop business cases to implement automation and new designs within the distribution operations.
4. Process mapping and/or create value stream mapping (VSM) or current fulfillment processes and improved processes, implement the changes and quantifying savings.
5. Select and implement new warehouse management system (WMS).
6. Conduct best practice audits for the distribution center.
7. Serve as an industry expert in warehousing and material handling.
8. Research and stay current with the latest trends and innovations in warehousing.
9. Ensures routing accuracy from initial input to the end of production, including all engineering changes and process improvement activities
10. Updates standard work charts as required by engineering changes and process improvements, and maintains the latest revision in document control through the engineering change process
11. Assists manufacturing/engineering in understanding methods and rates, as well as identifying potential causes leading to low productivity, low utilization of labor or equipment, and/or missed shipments.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
2. 2 to 4 years of related manufacturing experience
Experience in design and/or warehouse operations is preferred
3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Analytical and problem solving skills with independent decision-making abilities
b. Organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skills
c. Goal and Target Setting skills
d. Technical and Business writing skills
e. Computer skills – proficient in using basic business software packages, including MS Office and manufacturing database systems
f. Written and verbal communications skills
g. Interpersonal skills — ability to work in a team environment, and to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
