Job Summary

Test Lab Engineer will be the Technical support and communication link between the Quality Lab Dept.
and the New Product Launch Teams. Test Lab Engineer coordinates and ensures all requirements for
Performance testing are in place, tracked, and meeting New Launch program milestone timing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Performs the Engineering lead role to coordinate the testing of lighting products in accordance with established
company, customer, industry, and regulatory standards and specifications.
2. Ensure all necessary lamp specific testing information and test equipment/ test stands is provided to Quality Labs in
order for lab personnel to efficiently complete requested testing in a timely manner.
3. Establishes regular meetings with new launch teams and serves as the main contact for communication with program
teams for Koito design projects that will require DV testing and PV testing.
4. Attends new launch Design Reviews through all stages of new product development to obtain and understand new
program timing, Lamp Design details, and Performance Test Spec. requirements.
5. Collaborates with Koito Design to obtain New Project DV and PV Test Specs & Test Spec items numbers which are
then used to establish the DV and PV test plans with required timing to support the overall project timing.
6. Works with Lab to determine the correct number of test parts needed for each DV and PV required test plan.
7. Communicates Qty.of required test parts to the New launch team, tracks the build of those test parts, confirms accuracy
of the test parts, and finally submits the test parts to the lab with required Work Orders.
8. Performs the initial analysis of any test failures by verification of correct test method and tear down of failed unit.
9. Sets up and Leads meeting with New Launch Team to explain any test failures, ensures failure issue is added to the
Launch Team Open Issue List. Tracks the Root Cause, CM, and expected re-Test Timing with the new project team.
10. Ensures test completion timing adherence to new project plan and schedule by attending New Launch team meetings,
generating follow-up documents, managing open issues, and soliciting management support as needed in overcoming
problems.
11. Prepare and present DV and PV test status for new launch testing to management on Monthly basis or as requested for all
Koito Designed programs.
12. Performs other duties as assigned

Responsibilites

Requirements

1. Must meet one of the following Education and Experiencerequirements:
a. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline plus 3 – 5 years of experience in new product
development and launches OR;
b. Associate’s degree in related discipline plus 5 - 7 years of working experience within an automotive test lab that
focuses on new product development and launch
( Experience in exterior automotive lighting is preferred )
2. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the followingareas:
a. Organizational and planning skills
b. Ability to monitor several program schedules and balance multiple priorities
c. Interpersonal skills – to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
d. Problem-solving, statistical, and analytical skills with attention todetail
e. Computer skills —proficiency using standard software (includingWord, Excel, and Access)
f. Written and verbal communications skills
g. Interpersonal skills — ability to work in a team environment, and confidently interact with individuals
