Job Summary

Gains knowledge and experience required for promotion to a Production Supervisor position under the direction of experienced personnel in accordance with the established management training process.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Observes experienced workers and performs production jobs to acquire knowledge of methods, processes, and standards required for performance of departmental duties.
2. Receives training in the daily operations of the NAL manufacturing process; including the manufacturing procedures, materials, equipment, employment laws, and personnel policies.
3. Learns and performs the job duties of a Production Supervisor; including supervising all processes and personnel in the production areas.
4. Sets performance goals and objectives with management and Corporate Training.
5. Monitors performance progress with management and key trainers.
6. Schedules the workload for employees in the Department with guidance from his/her mentor.
7. Performs the duties to ensure that production and quality requirements are met.
8. Addresses all production emergencies and requests from other supervisors in a responsible and professional manner.
9. Monitors departmental safety and holds monthly safety meetings with employees.
10. Ensures department equipment and area is clean and in good repair.
11. Observes and supports continuous improvement projects and scrap reduction processes.
12. Provides record keeping as required.
13. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Responsibilites
Requirements

1. Meets the following education and experience requirements:
a. High school diploma or GED
b. 4+ years of manufacturing experience including 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role (Experience with JIT production system, TPM, and Kaizen implementation preferred)
2. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Organizational and planning skills
b. Analytical and problem solving skills
c. Computer skills in standard business software (including MS Office programs)
d. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
e. Interpersonal skills — to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals at all levels of authority throughout the company
