Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Provides day-to-day technical support for the molding process in the plant
2. Supports new launch development activities for molding departments
3. Addresses internal and external customer complaints, conducts investigations, develops root cause analysis, determines countermeasures, and documents — using NAL problem solving methods
4. Supports mold trials prior to molds arriving at NAL including interface with Tool Engineering and outside tool shops, including domestic and international travel to outside tool shops
5. Conducts initial mold trials at NAL to verify internal process and mold capabilities
6. Supports Manufacturing in the purchase, installation, and start-up of new equipment, as required
7. Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement activities targeted to facilitate improvements in quality, productivity, and safety; and reductions in scrap and machine downtime
8. Documents the process on set-up sheet, and maintains project book with the proper documents
9. Develops and updates/improves check sheets for all production equipment for preventative maintenance and machine condition
10. Establishes and continually improves SOS procedures for processes, and provides training on the processes to molding personnel, as needed
11. Stays abreast of and communicates any developments in state of the art tooling and processes that may aid in increasing productivity and quality, and reducing scrap and machine downtime
12. Performs other duties as assigned


Job Summary

Plans, designs, and implements production processes, ensures new product designs can be manufactured, and maintains the coatings processes in production.


a. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline plus 0 - 2 years of related manufacturing experience. OR;
b. Associate’s Degree plus 2 – 4 years of related manufacturing experience (experience in multi-color molding and robotics for an automotive manufacturer is preferred)
c. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
i. Analytical and problem solving skills
ii. Organizational and planning skills
iii. Computer skills in standard business software (including MS Office programs)
iv. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
v. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority.
