Job Summary

Coordinates and supports the product maturation (performance, dimensional, appearance) and development from prototype through manufacturing production stages as required by Program Manager to ensure that product design, manufacturing, assembly, and other problems are detected and resolved at the earliest stages of the product development cycle.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Coordinates product maturation (performance, dimensional, and appearance) phase of new launch
2. Uses open issues report to record and track all open issues to closure
3. Reviews advanced quality planning documents, FMEA’s, PDS, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Charts, Gage R&R studies, and capability studies to help identify and resolve issues during the development and launch of a new product
4. Works with Launch Team to provide production level parts for each Customer Pre Production build
5. Performs technical and statistical investigations and analysis on production, quality, process, and equipment issues using standard NAL problem solving methods
6. Resolves issues related to dimensional and performance requirements by evaluation of assembly, molding, coatings, design, tooling, and SPC & DOE
7. Assists in processing and delivering prototype parts by ensuring that tools replicate production process intent and meet design and performance specifications, and providing updated information regarding engineering changes
8. Provides feedback on issues to both Koito and FHO Design to resolve maturation problems
9. Supports launches at other NAL facilities and customer facilities, as needed, to support all phases of the customer’s launch activities ― including Engineering and Component Review Team meetings, molding trials, assembly trials, and SOP activities
10. Performs other duties as assigned



1. Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
2. 0 to 2 years of related Engineering experience (Experience in the quality function within automotive supplier manufacturing working with Japanese and US automakers in launch activities is preferred)

3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Technical and understanding of statistics, inspection, testing, dimensional layouts, specification
interpretation, and report writing in a manufacturing environment
b. Knowledge and understanding of CAD, GD&T, and APQP
c. Analytical and problem solving skills ― including the ability to evaluate and resolve issues or
problems related to a successful product launch
d. Computer skills in standard business software (including MS Office programs)
e. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
f. Interpersonal skills — ability to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and maintain composure in sensitive, stressful, and pressure situations
