Job Summary

To design, specify, develop, and setup controls for equipment being created by Equipment Design group.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Program and debug production equipment equipped with PC and PLC controllers.
2. Review and recommend improvements to controls and pneumatics design for standard workcells.
3. Researches electronics technology to recommend “best practices” for assembly equipment control.
4. Specify and design pneumatic circuits for assembly machines.
5. Creates high voltage circuits for assembly equipment using CAD software.
6. Design control voltage circuits for assembly equipment using CAD software.
7. Design electrical cabinet layouts for machines utilizing CAD software.
8. Create Electrical and pneumatic BOM’s using Excel.
9. Writes machine operation manuals and preforms necessary training.
10. Work with mechanical designers to incorporate controls in the total machine package.
11. Work with equipment engineers to fully understand function and requirements of machines being built.
12. Assist and advise Equipment Design Technicians on electrical and controls issues.
13. Setup and train plant personnel on vision systems and vision guided motion systems.
14. Preforms other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. Meets one of the following education and experience requirements:
b. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technical Discipline or related field, plus 2-4 years of experience
in equipment design; or
c. AS degree in a technical discipline, plus 4 - 6 years technical work experience in equipment design
manufacturing assembly.
2. Strong knowledge, skills, and experience in the following areas:
a. PLC programming, PC controls programming, and robotic programming
b. Previous experience in controls design preferred
c. Computer skills including Microsoft Office
d. Experience with CAD software such as Catia V. 5 and Solidworks
e. The ability to confidently interact with all levels of personnel within the organization
