Job Summary

Provides software engineering, design and development support for new product launches and development products pertaining to electronics in exterior automotive lighting products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Performs software design and development for automotive lighting projects.
2. Develops embedded software engineering utilizing real-time controllers.
3. Creates, tests and delivers robust, high quality software.
4. Understands and efficiently resolves issues pertaining to all applications and core technologies
5. Defines requirements for the security elements of automotive embedded systems.
6. Conducts tests and other evaluations for prototype and pre-prototype software.
7. Supports engineering and production core teams on implementation of new technologies.
8. Maintains open lines of communications with internal project teams and external customers and suppliers related to assigned projects.
9. Generates new concepts for technical solutions by keeping abreast of the latest advancements in electronics development.
10. Mentors junior software engineers to raise skill level of the department, and provides technical expertise to the organization on software-related technologies, processes, and developments.
11. Coordinates the assigned tasks of departmental engineers, and provides technical assistance.
12. Performs all other duties as assigned.

13. Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s Degree is preferred)
14. 5 or more years of experience in software development for manufacturing (experience in electronics development within automotive parts manufacturing is preferred)
15. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Working level knowledge of AUTOSAR, ISO26262
b. Knowledge and understanding of automotive electronics software design
c. Knowledge and understanding of vehicle architectures and their impact on Lamp Electronics
d. Organizational, planning, and problem solving skills
e. Computer skills using standard business software (including MS Office programs)
f. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
g. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
h. Experience with Version Control
