Our Opportunity
North American Lighting (NAL) is looking for an Optical Engineer - I to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide engineering, design, and development support for new product launches and development projects pertaining to the optics in exterior automotive lighting products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Your Priorities
- Provides optical design and development expertise for timely support on new projects of moderate size and complexity, implementation of new technologies, and all other assigned projects.
- Provides optical design related guidance and technical advice to project engineers and designers for new product development and production projects.
- Designs and conducts tests, lab set up, data acquisition, data analysis, and other evaluations for prototype and pre-production hardware.
- Recommends and implements design changes to production products per prototype testing results.
- Researches and develops design solutions to automotive lighting engineering issues.
- Conducts feasibility studies and engineering analyses for the new concepts.
Requirements
Your Background
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with courses in optics, mechanical engineering, and physics, plus 0 - 2 years of experience in optical design and/or photometry.
Experience: Experience in lab set up and testing methods.
Experience in optical design and development within automotive parts manufacturing is preferred.
