Job Summary

Provides engineering, design, and development support for new product launches and development projects pertaining to electronics in exterior automotive lighting products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Provides design, development, and production support regarding the electrical requirements for new lighting products in order to meet program timing goals
2. Conducts and oversees design validation tests for prototype and production hardware
3. Recommends and implements design changes to production products per prototype testing results
4. Conducts DFMEA, DVP&R, wiring schematics, component selection, and other technical support on assigned programs per customer requirements
5. Provides electronics related guidance and technical advice to design and engineering for new product development and production programs
6. Generates new concepts for improving electronics design capabilities
7. Assists the technology development group with general electrical expertise and laboratory support
8. Develops electronics design standards to guide the implementation of new technologies
9. Maintains open lines of communications with internal project teams and external customers and suppliers related to assigned projects
10. Performs all other duties as assigned


At North American Lighting

1. Education & Experience — One of the following:
a. Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline plus up to 2 years of experience in a position involving electronics development; OR
b. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline plus 2 to 4 years of experience in a position involving electronics development
c. (experience in Electrical Engineering within automotive manufacturing is preferred)
2. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Knowledge of testing methods and government requirements for automotive designs
b. Knowledge of manufacturing capabilities for automotive lighting and electronics
c. Data analysis and problem solving skills
d. Organizational and planning skills
e. Computer skills using standard business software (including MS Office programs)
f. Computer skills using LabView or MatLab, PSpice, and ProTel
g. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
h. Interpersonal skills — to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
