Job Summary

To provide technical support and services within the area of design services. Checks drawing formats manually and utilizing CAD software prior to submission to the plant, customers, supplier or tool shop. Using NAL techniques and knowledge of customer and/or NAL drawing standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Checks data and/or drawings for errors or quality issues.
a. Using ECRs generated by the responsible engineer, before prints and/or released prints of similar parts, verify the designer has generated the drawing as instructed.
2. Reviews the drawing and revision column against the intent of the ECR. Ensure that the description matches what was accomplished.
3. Populates and links data within TCUA.
4. Checks data and/or drawings of revised component parts where interchangeability has or has not been affected.
a. Using ECRs generated by the responsible engineer, and before prints obtained from document control, verify the detailer has completed the changes to the drawing as instructed.
5. Check customer drawings of revised assemblies where interchangeability has or has not been affected.
a. Using customer change notices, corresponding NAL ECRs, and before prints obtained from Document Control, verify the designer has completed the changes to the drawing as instructed.
6. Check production release data and drawings of complex assemblies.
a. Using ECRs generated by the responsible engineer, before prints and/or released prints of similar parts, verify the designer has generated the drawing as instructed.
7. Use the “where used” and/or the “BOM” list to verify that interchangeability between mating parts and associated assemblies has not been affected.
8. Verify that the data and design does not contain, material thickness issues, interference conditions, die locked areas, tooling problems and does not violate any company design standards.
9. File data-integrity.

Responsibilites

Requirements

1. Meets one of the following Education and Experience requirements:
a. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Design, or a related discipline, plus 2 to 4 years of experience in checking, design, drafting, technical writing, and/or manufacturing processes in automotive parts manufacturing; OR
b. Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Design, or a related discipline, plus 4 to 6 years of experience in checking, design, drafting, technical writing, and/or manufacturing processes in automotive parts manufacturing; OR
c. High School Diploma or GED, plus 6 to 8 years of experience in checking, design, drafting, technical writing, and/or manufacturing processes in automotive partsmanufacturing

Requirements (continued):
2. Strong Skills in the following areas:
a. Knowledge of design and checking techniques of plastic injected molded parts
b. Knowledge of design and drawing standards for automotive parts
c. Organizational and planning skills
d. Data analysis and problem solving skills with attention to detail
e. CAD skills — proficiency using standard industry CAD software (such as Catia or UG)
f. Computer skills — proficiency using standard business software (including MSOffice)
g. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
h. Interpersonal skills — to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of authority and to maintain composure in sensitive, pressure, and confrontational situations
