Job Summary

Knows and applies standard polishing concepts, practices, and procedures. Works under general supervision, and performs a variety of tasks. Relies on moderate experience to perform the functions of the job, which require a minimal degree of originality, latitude, and independent judgment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Polishes plastic injection molds and components by hand and with reciprocators
2. Sets up plastic injection molds and components to polish
3. Reviews mold and mold component specifications to determine the appropriate tools, abrasives, and other materials to be used in the polishing process
4. Inspects work pieces to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet customer specifications
5. Works with Mold Makers and Supervisor to determine priority and scope of work for each mold
6. Inspects molds to detect defects and verify specifications
7. Performs other duties as assigned

Responsibilites

Requirements

1. High School Diploma or GED
2. 3 to 6 years of mold polishing or related experience
3. Experience within a plastic injection mold making facility is preferred
4. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Organizational and planning skills
b. Problem solving skills
c. Communications and interpersonal skills
d. Ability to follow directions and work well within a team environment
e. Ability to achieve polish levels up to and including SPI/SPE #1 diamond finish on small to mid size tools
