EDM Programmer/Machinist - III

Job Summary

Programs, operates, and maintains EDM equipment to produce quality thermoplastic and thermoset injection molds.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Works with Makino controllers to create roughing and finishing EDM sequences.
  2. Uses various tools to inspect electrodes prior to use.
  3. Performs his/her own machine setups.
  4. Works with the Supervisor, Scheduler, and General Foreman to understand which tools are to be machined, and in what order they are scheduled.
  5. Works with the Designers to verify models and which tools and parts are to be machined.
  6. May run multiple machines simultaneously.
  7. Inspects workpieces using micrometers, calipers, and height gages.
  8. Maintains EDM tooling inventory.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

$35.65 an hour

Requirements

  1. Must meet one of the following Education and Experience requirements:
    a. Associate degree in a technical discipline plus 6 to 8 years of experience in EDM programming and operation; OR
    b. High School Diploma or GED plus 8 to 10 years of experience in EDM programming and operation.
  2. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
    a. Ability to follow directions and work well within a team environment.
    b. Ability to read and work off blueprints and tool drawings.
    c. High level of mechanical skills.
    d. Organizational and planning skills.
    e. Problem solving skills.
    f. Written and verbal communications skills.
    g. Working knowledge of Makino EDM equipment is preferred, but not required.
