Job Summary

Leads and directs the overall financial planning and management function at a plant level to allow for the efficient and cost effective management of the business unit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Implements and ensures compliance with all accounting and financial policies, practices, procedures, and initiatives at the plant level
2. Prepares, analyzes, and interprets manufacturing performance reports, departmental reports, P&L statements, and planning to actual reports on a timely basis
3. Compiles and analyzes manufacturing data (labor, scrap, efficiency, etc), and assists in identifying potential root causes of problems, proposing possible countermeasures, and making specific recommendations for cost reductions and profit improvement
4. Reviews and analyzes all departmental, labor, and capital expenditures on a monthly basis, and assists in identifying and eliminating variances
5. Coordinates and facilitates tool close-out meetings for each tool
6. Calculates the standard machine rates on an annual basis
7. Analyzes the cost model calculator on a regular basis to ensure its accuracy
8. Prepares all accounting ledgers and reports for the plant, and provides accurate and timely financial and planning information to Corporate Planning & Cost Control
9. Reviews all capital, inventory records, and manufacturing expenditures to verify that the accounting classifications are accurate and all costs are recorded correctly
10. Verifies that all personnel requisitions are within the approved budget
11. Conducts special accounting and financial studies, analyzes the findings, and assists with interpreting the operating results
12. Performs other duties as assigned



1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline
2. 6 to 8 years of experience in a position in a manufacturing operations function (i.e.: Production Control, Engineering, Cost Accounting); including
a. 2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role
b. Experience preparing and analyzing financial reports (i.e.: income statement, balance sheet)
(Experience in a tooling and/or automotive manufacturing environment is preferred)

3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
a. Knowledge and understanding of accounting/finance principals, processes, and terminology
b. Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing philosophies, processes, and terminology
c. Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills (with attention to detail)
d. Organizational and planning skills
e. Computer skills — proficiency using standard business software (including MS Office)
f. Ability to compile electronic data from various sources, and create functional reports and/or presentations using the tools provided in MS Access and Excel
g. Ability to perform or direct multiple, complex priorities and balance the needs of each according to business impact
h. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills
i. Interpersonal skills — to professionally and confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and maintain composure in sensitive or pressure situations
